Megan + Chef Bae put the buzziest skin-boosting smoothie to the (blind taste) test.

Hailey Bieber’s TikTok-viral Strawberry Skin Glaze Smoothie made swirly pink waves when it launched at Erewhon in 2022. Made with strawberries, avocado, dates, coconut cream, and almond milk; plus skin-supporting ingredients like collagen and sea moss, it’s a beverage that promises to make your complexion glowy and taste delicious. The catch? It’ll set you back a cool $19. Plus, it’s only available in Erewhon locations—so if you’re not an L.A. resident, you’re out of luck. The good news is, if you’re looking for your own version to sip on at home, we’ve got a recipe that virtually mimics the Internet’s favorite shake.

I am a big fan of the o.g. Skin Glaze, so I was thrilled to team up with celeb chef Chef Bae, a.k.a. Brooke Baevsky, for a smoothie-off. Chef Bae compares Erewhon’s most popular products with less expensive alternatives you can easily whip up at home.

While I—spoiler alert!—wound up preferring Erewhon’s version, I still loved the Trader Joe’s option, and it’s a great option if you want a sweet, skin-boosting treat at home. Between the health benefits, creamy coconutty texture, and sweet strawberry sauce, we’ll be sipping on this smoothie for the rest of summer and beyond. Cheers to radiant skin (and saving $$)!
