How to Feel Confident on Your Wedding Day

By The Sculpt Society

Katy Schuele Scanlan is a beloved trainer at The Sculpt Society who knows that confidence starts from within. Here she shares her favorite tips to help you feel strong, grounded, and present throughout your wedding journey, from the workouts that boost your mood to confidence-boosting playlist recommendations, Katy’s here to remind you that your wedding journey isn’t about perfection—it’s about feeling good in your body and celebrating every moment with joy.

What do you remember from your wedding day? How did you feel?

I remember feeling completely present and overwhelmed with love. There’s this quiet, surreal moment right before walking down the aisle when everything feels still and then the rest of the day is this joyful, emotional blur. I felt so grounded in my body, confident, and connected to everyone around me. It truly felt like the most magical celebration of love.

What are your top three tips for feeling confident on your wedding day—both physically and mentally?

1. Move your body in a way that feels good. Not for aesthetics, but to connect to yourself and get out of your head and just be.

2. Visualize the energy you want to bring. Take a few minutes in the morning to breathe, ground yourself, and mentally step into your confident self.

3. Let go of perfection. The most beautiful brides are the ones who feel good, not those who look “perfect.” Confidence is an energy, radiates from within!!

How far in advance should brides start a wedding workout routine, and what should they focus on?

I recommend starting at least 3–6 months before, not to “change” your body, but to build a consistent, fun routine! Focus on low-impact sculpting, mobility, and cardio dance to increase strength, and reduce stress. The goal should be to feel strong, connected, and energized.

Do you recommend any daily routines or rituals—fitness or otherwise—for brides in the final month before the wedding?

Absolutely. Establishing small rituals can help calm nerves and keep you grounded. A few I love:

  • A 20-minute Sculpt Society workout to get endorphins flowing.
  • A walk outdoors every day, it’s underrated but powerful.

And remembering that venting to your girlfriends over a glass of wine sometimes is exactly what you need.

What’s your advice for brides who feel pressure to look a certain way before the wedding?

I get it, there’s so much external pressure. But your worth is not defined by your body. Your partner loves you for you! And that's what it's all about ! Shift the focus from trying to “look” a certain way to feeling amazing in your skin. Choose movement and routines that uplift you, not ones rooted in pressure or shame.

What’s one piece of advice you’d give to brides who are feeling overwhelmed or anxious as their big day approaches?

Breathe. Zoom out. Remember why you’re doing this, it’s about love, not perfection. It’s okay if everything doesn’t go according to plan. Focus on the feelings you want to carry into your marriage, joy, gratitude, love. Anchor yourself in those, and let the rest be what it is.

What would you tell your own younger self about confidence and body image on a big life milestone like a wedding?

I’d tell her she’s enough—just as she is. Confidence doesn’t come from having the “perfect” body, but from knowing your worth and owning your presence. Don’t miss the magic of the moment by obsessing over the details. Soak in the love. That’s what you’ll remember.

What’s your go-to confidence-boosting playlist or song that always gets you in a good headspace?

Give me 90s and early 2000s country and I’m instantly in my happy place—Shania, the Chicks, all of it. I’m also deep in my Sabrina Carpenter era right now. And of course, my wedding song “You Make Me Feel Like Dancing” by Leo Sayer will always be a forever fave. When in doubt, dance it out, kitchen, living room, aisle… doesn’t matter!
