Find your perfect pair of workout shoes…with a little help from our experts.

Hot take: has there ever been a better time in history to be a sneakerhead? The most versatile shoes you’ll ever own can be worn with any outfit, range from sporty and sustainable to cool and classic, and most importantly of all—at least to us!—can make workouts more effective (and a whole lot more pleasant). While some sneakers do double duty, we think they tend to fall into two distinct footwear categories: your around-town sneakers for errands, dog walks, and meetups; and sneakers you wear almost solely (pun very much intended) for fitness. Below, our trainers talk finding the high-performance sneakers that have leveled up their workouts, plus favorite everyday kicks to wear into the ground…

What do you think are the best workout sneakers for The Sculpt Society classes?

Megan: My all time favorite sneakers are the Asics Gel Kayano and New Balance Fresh Foam x 1080v13’s. When shopping for sneakers that I am going to wear for TSS, I am looking for a shoe that will not only provide a nice cushion, but also provide a great deal of stability to support me through any modality of movement. These two sneakers do just that for me!

Matt: I have been loving my ASICS. They’re super supportive but also really light so they don’t feel like extra weight during dance cardio!

Maya: ASICS tried and true 100%! They are so supportive and comfortable.

What’s your favorite cute + comfy sneaker to wear for running errands around town, neighborhood walks, or long travel days?

Maya: My current fav shoes are the Adidas Gazelle Bold Platforms! Definitely not a workout sneaker, but a fun, playful shoe to spice up any outfit day or night! I also can’t resist just about any New Balance sneaker. I’ve had multiple pairs of 574+ and recently just got the 1906R!

Megan: My favorite cute sneakers that I wouldn't necessarily workout in, but are perfect for walking around town in are either the New Balance 327 Suede Sneakers or any of the knit APL sneakers. These are both absolutely beautiful and are really easy to style with a cute outfit!

Matt: My go to comfy sneakers are my Cole Haans. You can totally dress them up to wear at a semi formal event or dress them down for a long travel day. When I used to work in an office, they were my go to because I could be comfortable in them for hours!

How often do you buy new sneakers?

Matt: I aim to buy new sneakers every 3 months but I wind up pushing it back to 4 (and even sometimes 5) months. Sometimes I find that the more a shoe is worn in, the more comfortable it is!

Maya: Truly depends! I usually only wear my workout shoes for classes, and then casual shoes I interchange quite a bit so typically every few months! Sometimes longer once they’ve hit that sweet comfy spot :)

Megan: It really depends! Sometimes if I find myself wearing a certain pair more than others they will wear down faster meaning I have to buy them more frequently. Since I am in sneakers every single day for work, I find I need a new pair on average every 6 to 8 months - but this varies depending on the shoe and the daily wear and tear I put them through!
